Introductions

Hello, welcome to my blog. There will be laughter, there will be tears. There will be joy, there will be pain. There will be claws, fur, and drool.

This is where I will chronicle my experiences with the animals in my life.

But, first, let us make a few introductions of the stars of this blog.  There will be guest pets and animals, but these are the key players.

Since I am the only one in the household with opposable thumbs and a bank account, I get to go first.  I am sure the cats will be ever so offended.

Meet Amanda
Sometimes known as "Mandy" (family and friends) or "Mama" (Charlie) "Human" (the cats).  I just quit my job of 13 years and moved to a farm a couple thousand miles away.  I love to spend time with my family.  I love to go to the ocean.  I love to write.  I love to read.  I love to sit and stare out the window.  I love to stare at the tv, too.  And, of course, I love to do all of those things with my animals.  I am also a Harry Potter/LOTR/Jane Austen nerd.  As you will soon see for yourself....

Meet Charlie
Charlie is the sweetest 9-year old, 100-pound Golden Retriever puppy there ever was.  He is a true "Mama's boy".  He loves to go wherever I go.  He loves to run in big places.  He loves to chase birds, rabbits, and deer.  He loves to chew bones.  He loves to hold hands.  Not shake.  Just hold hands.  He also thinks he is a lap dog.  We have had quite a few disagreements due to this misconception.  He usually wins.  As I type, Charlie is comfortably snuggled on the recliner, while I sit awkwardly on my side, one knee hooked over the arm, leg dangling half off the leg rest.  It's okay.  He's adorable.

Meet Severus Snape
Severus is a fat, lazy cat.  He's the black Garfield.  He loves to knead things (human skin, mostly).  He loves to eat.  He loves to sleep.  Every once in a while he will revisit his kitten roots and play.  He was an accomplished mouser and spiderer in his heyday, but, for the most part, now he's purely ornamental.  He's good at it.  He's beautiful.

Meet Minerva McGonagall
Minerva is a stunning long-haired tabby.  She's pretty easy-going. She loves to climb.  She loves to knock things over.  She loves to snuggle.  She loves to stretch.  She loves to play with the other cats and sometimes the dog.  She loves to investigate when I'm building/fixing things.  As in, steal my nails, fight with the screw driver, and stick her head under the hammer as it's coming down.  She's lovely, but she doesn't have a lot going on in the brains department.

Meet Moaning Myrtle
Oh, Myrtle. Where do I begin? Easily the most complex of cats, she has a strong mothering instinct and an equally strong strain of evil genius running through her blood. She loves to give the other cats sneak attack baths. She is a champion snuggler....on her own terms. She loves to run like mad at the slightest sound. She loves to yowl like a banshee. She is also a champion at hide and seek. She has also perfected the Puss'n'Boots melty stare. Life is exciting and unexpected with the diabolical Myrtle. I fearlove her so much.

Meet Mrs. Weasley
Mrs. Weasley is such a fun kitty. She has a (sometimes unfortunate) blend of curiosity and courage, as well as an open-minded attitude when it comes to inter-species relations. She loves to play with cats and dogs. She loves to play, period. She loves to spend hours at the window staring at the wildlife and napping. She loves to explore. She loves to try and escape through doors. Any doors. Even if it's into a closet. She loves to sleep in weird/cute positions. She's pretty darn adorable.
